EPIRB

Kannad 406 Using an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indication Radio Beacon) is the only way to call for help when you cross an ocean. We chose the Kannad 406.

The most important -and safety essential- benefit is that a 406 MHz beacon features an embedded code containing your boats identification, which enable the rescue operators on the ground to identify the boat or person in need of assistance immediately. This beacon can be spotted anywhere in the world and at any time. In addition, the 121.5 MHz aircraft frequency provides a homing frequency in the final phase or rescue search.

NASA HF3 Series SSB Receiver incl. Active Antenna

SSB reciver The Target HF3/W is a masterpiece of R.F.Engineering covering the entire spectrum between 30Khz to 30Mhz. For those new to single side band reception the unit comes complete with everything needed to "get on the air" including a very comprehensive instruction manual which includes a list of useful marine frequencies. A button on the front of the receiver changes reception mode, from a narrow filter for SSB recepetion to a wide filter which enables high quality audio signals to be heard from broadcast stations around the world. The large, clear liquid crystal display shows the precise frequency tuned to and there is no need for constant "correcting" with the tuning knob so often associated with SSB signals as the receiver if fully synthesised. A dedicated Active Antenna is available for the HF3 series receiver for more remote areas.

The 'W' version of the receiver is as the standard Target HF3/P but with the addition of a weatherfax interface, together with cable to connect the receiver to a PC and weatherfax software on a virus checked floppy disc. Simply install the Windows based software, plug in the receiver output to your PC and receive weatherfax pictures from around the world. You can even store and print the maps out if you wish. Navtex Receiver Furuno NX-300D

Navtex Furuno NX-300D

The NX-300 automatically receives NAVTEX (Navigational Telex) messages and verifies the ID of received messages. NAVTEX is a worldwide coastal telex broadcast system. The broadcast stations transmit Navigational Warnings, Meteorological Warnings, Search and Rescue (SAR) information and other data for ships sailing within their service range. The service range is 200-400 nautical miles depending on the terrain and transmit power; messages are broadcast every 4 hours. The NX-300 operates on 518 kHz.

Every incoming message is identified and new messages are read on the high-contrast 4.5" LCD display, no paper is required. However, the message can be printed out via a PC interface. The broadcasting station can be selected automatically according to own ship position when the NX-300 is connected with a GPS/DGPS navigator outputting position in NMEA 0183 format.

The NX-300 consists of a compact, waterproof display and an antenna unit. The fully waterproof display unit allows installation anywhere in board, either the cockpit or the navigation station. The antenna is a NX-3H (H-field) type.
